- What is a Power Chord?
- How to make a Power Chord
Notes:
- Power chords can be played with 2 fingers and only 2 notes
- Invented because of electric guitars
- Normal chords are usually too thick to play on a overdriven/distorted guitar
- Overdrive/Distortion make the frequency of each note very thick, so playing notes that are close to each other bump into one another the wrong way (sounds nasty).
- The fingering (chord chart position) for power chords is the same for any note on the 3rd-6th strings, and 1st-2nd string.
- If your fingers are the same distance apart (2frets), you can play a power chord anywhere on the guitar except the second string.
